NewBo & Czech Village
CSPS takes its name from the Czech-Slovak Protective Society and has been reimagined into a landmark live-music and performing-arts hall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is regarded as Eastern Iowa's center for contemporary art, music, and theatre, and operates as a listening room that can host live music any night of the week. The room holds around 200 people and books a wide range of genres, with past acts including Henhouse Prowlers, Michael Charles, and Radoslav Lorković. CSPS also runs a World Music Series drawing on global traditions through music and dance. NewBo City Market, housed in a renovated manufacturing plant, offers an outdoor stage in the Market Yard for concerts alongside its covered patio and indoor Rotary Hall. Its flagship music programming is Rock the Block, a free weekly concert series bringing local and national touring bands to the Market Yard every Friday night throughout summer. The Ideal Theater gives speakeasy vibes and provides a regular stream of live entertainment.
