Riverfront Crossings

Riverfront Crossings sits just south of downtown Iowa City, along the Iowa River. Its two music venues pull in opposite directions, which suits the neighborhood well. Public Space One (PS1) is an artist-led, nonprofit contemporary art center founded in 2002 that provides an independent space for making and presenting art, workshops, and residencies. The music arm operates out of PS1 Close House on South Gilbert Street. PS1 hosts over 100 events annually, including local and national touring musicians, theater performances, readings, and workshops. It is an all-ages, substance-free space. Local radio show Little Village Live broadcasts live performances from PS1. Trumpet Blossom Cafe is a vegan restaurant on East Prentiss Street where live music can be held any night of the week. Open since 2012, it was started by a former co-owner of The Red Avocado, Iowa City's original vegan restaurant. The cafe features an antique bar, an outdoor creekside patio, and a custom-built stage for live entertainment. It hosts a wide range of genres.
