Richmond, home to Eastern Kentucky University, anchors its live-music calendar around two very different ends of the spectrum. The EKU Center for the Arts is Eastern Kentucky University's performing arts center, presenting touring Broadway productions, concerts, dance, and comedy in a roughly 2,000-seat main theater with a Broadway-sized stage and a flexible black box seating around 200. Recent bookings have included Kansas, Jason Isbell, The Temptations and Four Tops, Trampled by Turtles, and JJ Grey and Mofro. On the bar side, Madison Garden Bar and Grill is the oldest continuously running bar and restaurant in Richmond, putting live bands on Friday and Saturday nights with no cover charge. Out on Barnes Mill Road, The Vine at Chenault Vineyards hosts acts ranging from country draws like Josh Turner to acoustic bluegrass jam nights, giving Richmond a winery-amphitheater option that pulls strong regional crowds.
