Antelope Park
Antelope Park's live-music life runs through two public venues operated by Lincoln Parks and Recreation. The John E. Shildneck Bandshell, on Memorial Drive, is an outdoor stage that has hosted outdoor entertainment for Lincoln locals for decades. Its anchor programming is the Lincoln Municipal Band, which performs Sunday evenings in July and August at 7:00 p.m., with free admission. The bandshell also draws community festivals, including the annual Latino festival organized by El Centro de las Américas, and has hosted multi-genre concerts covering indigenous hip-hop, folk-rock, jazz, and Cuban music. Inside the park, the nearly century-old Auld Pavilion serves as Lincoln Parks and Recreation's premier reservation facility for large events. Its dedicated stage measures 27 by 14 feet and supports regular dance nights: Big Band on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., contra dance the first Saturday of each month, and country dance the last Saturday. The Auld also takes ticketed touring acts, having hosted blues guitarist Carvin Jones in 2023. Both venues are park-operated, so programming skews community-oriented and free or low-cost.
