University
The University neighborhood sits at the heart of UNL's campus and carries most of its weight in formal, ticketed performance. The Lied Center for Performing Arts anchors the area's performance venues with a full slate of major traveling music and stage events. Next door, Kimball Recital Hall serves as the home for the Glenn Korff School of Music's concerts and recitals by faculty, students, and guest artists; with 850 seats, it is regarded as one of the finest concert halls in the Midwest. The hall recently completed a $15 million renovation that added updated acoustics, a digital recording facility, and expanded accessibility. Bob Devaney Sports Center, on Court Street, hosts indoor track meets, wrestling, graduations, and occasional touring concerts alongside its primary role as a volleyball arena. The Sheldon Museum of Art rounds out the neighborhood's music footprint on a smaller, more intimate scale. The overall character here leans classical and institutional, driven by the university's music school calendar rather than by independent or commercial bookings.
