Pioneers Park
Pioneers Park sits on the southwestern edge of Lincoln, and its live-music identity rests almost entirely on one venue: Pinewood Bowl Theater. The Pinewood Bowl Amphitheatre was designed by landscape architect Ernst H. Herminghaus and completed following World War II. Today it operates as a summer-season outdoor concert venue managed in connection with Pinnacle Bank Arena, holding up to 5,500 people across reserved seating and a general-admission lawn. The booking skews toward nationally touring rock, country, and blues acts; past performers include Ringo Starr, Beck, and Train. Recent schedules have also included Joe Bonamassa, Gov't Mule, and Alison Krauss. The open-air, park setting draws frequent comparisons from concertgoers to Colorado's Red Rocks. A separate non-profit, Pinewood Performing Arts, also uses the bowl for community musical-theater productions, a tradition running since 1949. Outside the bowl, Pioneers Park has no other dedicated music venues.
