Clifton

A neighborhood in Louisville

Clifton's live-music identity is spread across two long-running neighborhood bars on its Frankfort Avenue and Brownsboro Road corridors. Gerstle's Place, established in 1924, has built a reputation for hosting live music of all kinds, booking blues, rock, bluegrass, Americana, and cover bands across two stages, with music most nights of the week. All door proceeds go directly to the performing bands. A few blocks away, Mellwood Tavern occupies a building originally opened in 1885 at the corner of Brownsboro Road and Mellwood Avenue, originally known as The Rendezvous Inn and recognized as the longest continuously running bar in Louisville. It hosts live music on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights, with Wednesdays reserved for acoustic acts, and also runs an Early Service music series on Sundays. Together, the two bars give Clifton a consistent, low-key live-music calendar rooted in local and regional acts.
