NuLu
A neighborhood in Louisville
NuLu, short for New Louisville, sits just east of downtown Louisville along East Market Street, where a cluster of bars, breweries, and restaurants doubles as the neighborhood's live-music circuit. Gravely Brewing Co. (905 E. Main St.) bills itself as a music brewery, driven by equal parts fresh beer and live music. The tap list leans toward IPAs, classic German styles, and barrel-aged sours, while Chef Eliana Lopez runs a kitchen rooted in Latin tradition with Honduran heart. Most live shows take place on Friday and Saturday nights. Galaxie (732 E. Market St.) is a NuLu neighborhood bar serving globally inspired tacos, open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. It regularly hosts the Kentucky EDM Family concert series, with the back room shifting into a late-night dance floor when the DJs take over. Jimmy Can't Dance is tucked behind a yellow door inside Hotel Genevieve's Mini Marché, operating as a speakeasy-style spot. La Bodeguita de Mima is a Cuban restaurant and rum bar on the East Market corridor. The Last Refuge occupies a renovated 145-year-old church tied to Bob Dylan's Heaven's Door Bourbon brand, offering live music alongside a bar and restaurant.
