Portland is Louisville's oldest neighborhood, and with new investment moving in, it is working through a revitalization. Its one dedicated music-and-events spot is The Biscuit Lounge and The Loft at The Biscuit Lounge, named for the building's former life as a biscuit factory and occupying the South 10th Street building once home to Old 502 Winery, redesigned by Barry Wooley to hold both a lounge bar and an upstairs event space. The Loft, on the second floor, holds around 275 people and draws events that feature DJs. Programming at the lounge side runs toward DJ sets and dance nights: Fridays bring live DJ sets with organic and tropical house beats, while alternating Thursdays host line dancing nights with DJ Reece. Live-band bookings are not a regular feature here; the draw is DJ-driven nightlife and private events in a designed, flexible space.
