Rockford

Rockford has a long history as a live-music city, having hosted acts like Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, and Sheryl Crow through its large-scale festival scene. Today that tradition is carried by four distinct venues. BMO Center is Rockford's downtown arena, pulling in concerts from major touring artists, past performers have included Brantley Gilbert and tobyMac, across a range of genres. The Coronado Theatre is a 2,400-seat house that opened in 1927. Restored through an $18.5 million project, it reopened in 2001 as a state-of-the-art performance facility. It books a wide range of genres, with recent and upcoming acts including Melissa Etheridge and Shakey Graves. The Rockford Symphony Orchestra also performs there regularly. Hard Rock Casino Rockford features a state-of-the-art venue with a year-round lineup of rock, country, and blues. Sinnissippi Park Music Shell offers a scenic riverside setting for outdoor concerts, with a recurring Tuesday-evening "Rockford Jams" series running through summer.
