Oxford
Oxford, home of Ole Miss, draws local and nationally touring acts playing nearly every genre across multiple downtown venues. The city is also home to Fat Possum Records, a label whose roster stretches from Mississippi blues legends to contemporary indie acts. Proud Larry's has been a live music venue and restaurant on the Square since 1993, serving hand-tossed pizza alongside shows most nights. Its calendar spans indie rock, Americana, jam, and blues, plus the occasional comedy night or album release party. Past bookings have included Warren Zevon, Elvis Costello, The Black Keys, R.L. Burnside, Jason Isbell, and the North Mississippi Allstars. The Lyric Oxford occupies a building that was originally a livery stable owned by William Faulkner's family, later converted into a theater for silent films and live performances in the 1920s. Today it hosts mid-size national acts and local favorites, keeping much of its original character while offering modern sound and lighting. David H. Nutt Auditorium is an additional performance space on the Ole Miss campus that appears on regional concert listings, though detailed booking information is limited.
