City Winery Nashville & Lovenoise Presents D'Angelo Tribute w/ The Royal Family live on Sunday, October 18th at 7:30pm! The Royal Family honors the life and legacy of Michael Eugene Archer, also known as “D’Angelo,” and his contributions to music and the world. They will take a deep dive into all his albums and the songs he covered. Starting with “Brown Sugar”, D’Angelo’s debut album. This album was the beginning of a new movement; D’Angelo’s distinct sound of infusing soul, gospel, hip hop, and funk started to flood the streets and inspire a new generation of musicians and artists. They will then take a journey into “Voodoo”, D’Angelo’s sophomore album. This project explores themes of spirituality, love, sexuality, and freedom. Finally, The Royal Family will then play fan favorites from D’Angelo’s final album, “Black Messiah “. This project leaves the world of charm and sexuality and begins a journey into Nina Simone’s realm by delivering a politically and socially conscious project. October 14, 2026 marks the first anniversary of the passing of the Icon. October 11th, The Royal Family recorded their first live record, “The Recital Vol. 1,” in the hopes that D’Angelo would hear their song “Sweet Love”. It was inspired by their love of “Voodoo”. The Royal Family honors D’Angelo with this Tribute and hopes you all enjoy this journey.
