It’s cuddling in bed, holding hands, talking at the kitchen table or simply gazing deeply into each other’s eyes. Southern soul/ blues/ R&B singer Stacii Adams expresses the essence of that enduring ambiance on his passion-filled sophomore album Love You Like the 90s. Coming off the Billboard-charting success of sexy steppers anthem “Do It For Love,” the sultry satin-voiced soloist continues to spread a little tenderness with heartfelt ballad “I’ll Beg.” “The 90s was the best era in music. Period. And this album embodies the feel of the 90s,” Stacii Adams explains. “I’m reintroducing love with a sound, with a feeling to make people want to love again, hold hands again, kiss again, slow dance in the club again. Chivalry ain’t dead; chivalry is alive and well within this album.” Slated to be released early 2025, the star-studded project features hugely popular Southern soul singer Sky Whatley, up-tempo feel-good song of the year “Happy Days” featuring Grammy Award-winning platinum singer Anthony Hamilton and Grammy-nominated vocalist Calvin Richardson on the sensual love song “Let’s Make A Baby.” With the bulk of production created by certified platinum music maestro Angelo Ray, who wrote and produced Kevon Edmonds’ certified platinum single “24/7,” this much-anticipated album is mixed and engineered by 28-time Grammy winner Leslie Brathwaite (TLC, Brandy, Outkast, Pharrell) and platinum-backed soundman Kory Anders (Usher, Akon, BeBe and CeCe Winans). Stacii Adams also acknowledges blessings from the Most High on an inspirational selection produced by gospel hit maker Bailey Hinton. “The 90s was a time when you could be yourself, but you really had to be able to sing. You really had to produce good music,” says Stacii. “With this album, I’m bringing back a sound and a feel within the music that need to be touched on.” No stranger to making memorable music, Stacii Adams has been bringing the best of love for quite some time now. Born in Milledgeville, Ga. and raised in the College Park suburb of Atlanta, Stacii Adams was raised in a house full of music. His father was a professional singer, drummer and conga player for several blues and R&B bands in the 70s and 80s. And his older sister sang background for several old school Atlanta bass acts. “My father brought me up listening to Johnny Taylor, Marvin Sease, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Little Milton,” Stacii says. “I always loved singing but when I was younger, I never really took it seriously. I woke up when I was about 16 and this old lady heard me singing and said ‘you know what? You need to sing the blues or soul, because you have a voice.’” Although he loved music, the six-foot-six youngster chose to pursue a career in basketball instead. After high school, he landed a scholarship to Albany State University. On the off season with a little more time on his hands, he revisited the words of that “old lady” and began dabbling in music. In no time, he was touring the college circuits, performing anywhere he could. By the time he had earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, he decided upon a career in music. Garnering attention early on, he co-wrote the lyrics to Adina Howard’s 2004 debut single “Nasty Grind” and has been noted by Island/ Def Jam Music Group A&R executive Max Gousse (A&R for Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce and B’Day) as one of the best writers he had ever met. “That was my first introduction to music,” he thinks back. “I came in at a high level, and over the years, I’ve had a chance to be amongst the greats and make some music with some legends.” Those legends include platinum producer/songwriter Paul Dawson (best known as Hot Sauce or Hollywood Hot Sauce), who wrote, produced and co-produced Rihanna's “As Real As You and Me,” Ariana Grande's “Hands on Me” and Usher's “Hot Tottie,” as well as timeless tracks for Adams. Initially starting his career as a songwriter, he embarked on a new path as an artist and melted the hearts of many admirers on debut single “Heat Phone,” instantly raising the bar in Southern soul, blues and R&B. With his dynamic stage shows, cinematic music videos and runaway singles such as touching love story “Good Enough For Me” and smooth ballad “These Bills,” this dark bronze Adonis quickly made a name for himself. In 2021, he released debut album Baggage Claim with his 2022 single “Do It For Love” peaking at No. 32 on Billboard’s Top 100 Urban AC Radio. He also lit up last summer with sizzling single “Higher” featuring rap legend Jadakiss. Most recently, he received the 2024 Achievement Award for his accomplishments during the Radio and Records Awards Ceremony in Atlanta. Next on the horizon, Stacii Adams continues to push the envelope in urban music with forthcoming sophomore album Love You Like the 90s, set to be released early next year. “I’m bringing blues to mainstream and being a catalyst to staying true to R&B, Southern soul and alternative music,” Stacii Adams details. “My main goal is to make music on a high level. So brace yourself for what’s to come!”
