Shakopee

Shakopee's live-music identity is largely defined by one major new arrival. Mystic Lake Amphitheater opened in summer 2026 as the first large-scale outdoor amphitheater in the Twin Cities metro. Operated by Live Nation, it is the largest outdoor amphitheater in Minnesota, with space for 19,000 concertgoers. Developed by Swervo Development Corp, the naming rights were purchased by Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. The venue hosts a full summer season spanning rock, country, pop, hip-hop, and more, drawing top national touring acts. Its inaugural season opened with a $20 celebration of homegrown talent including Motion City Soundtrack and Morris Day and the Time. Subsequent bookings have included Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson, John Mellencamp, Avenged Sevenfold, and 5 Seconds of Summer. The venue's Vinyl Room, accessible via the suites, is a Japanese listening room-inspired club with live vinyl DJs, Japanese whiskeys, and a record collection highlighting Minnesota musicians. The amphitheater looks out over the Minnesota River Valley, with Canterbury Park visible nearby.
