Lake Springfield
The Lake Springfield area anchors some of Springfield's most distinctive live-music settings. The Springfield Municipal Opera, an outdoor amphitheater at 815 East Lake Drive, opened in 1964 with a capacity of 800-plus seats and books musical theater productions on the lake's edge each summer. Blue Ridge Club, a members-only club on Lake Shore Drive with boat slips and camping spots, puts on occasional live sets; past bookings have included the Harris Brothers Band and Ricarda Rosalina. The club was founded in 1942 by a group of fighter pilots and retains a laid-back atmosphere today. Erin's Pavilion, the rentable banquet hall inside Southwind Park, hosts the Candlelight concert series, with recent programs including tributes to Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay, and Adele, as well as classical performances featuring Vivaldi. Route 66 Motorheads Bar & Grill rounds out the area's bar-based live music. Mowie's Cue, Pier 55 Lounge, The Library Pizza and Sports Bar, Lincoln Memorial Garden, and UIS Performing Arts Center also operate as music venues in or near the neighborhood.
