West Champaign
West Champaign's live-music options range from an outdoor winery stage to a college performance hall. Alto Vineyards Champaign, the newest branch of one of Illinois' oldest wineries, hosts live music on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons from April through October. The last Sunday of each month is reserved for comedy. Acts booked there have included blues bands like the Kilborn Alley Blues Band, classic rock and soul cover acts, and tribute bands. The outdoor stage draws crowds, with a $5 cover charge at the door. Parkland College Theatre is a flexible proscenium theater with 315 seats, serving as the performance home for Parkland's theatrical, choral, and instrumental groups. The theater is also used by community organizations, guest professional artists, and theater classes. Parkland's Harold and Jean Miner Theatre and Second Stage black box theatre present live musicals, comedies, and dramatic productions. Pipa's Pub rounds out the neighborhood's options as a bar with live music.
