UTC
The UTC neighborhood centers on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and its two live-music venues serve audiences at opposite ends of the scale. McKenzie Arena, a 12,000-seat facility known locally as "The Round House," sits on the UTC campus and serves as one of Chattanooga's premier live-music destinations, having hosted national touring acts including Elton John, James Taylor, and Migos. For concerts, the arena can be configured with the stage at center floor, end stage, or side stage, with capacities ranging from roughly 7,400 to 11,500. The UTC Fine Arts Center offers a very different experience. Located at the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets, it centers on the Roland W. Hayes Concert Hall, a 505-seat room named after the first male African American concert artist to receive worldwide recognition. Over 200 performances a year take place there through the Performing Arts Series, the Department of Music, Cadek Conservatory, and other university and community events. The Fine Arts Center's UTC LIVE! series is known for bringing noted artists to campus who are outside the mainstream, with programming spanning jazz, folk, and classical music.
