A suburb in the Chicago area
Hey Nonny anchors downtown Arlington Heights as an intimate listening room pairing live music with a farm-to-table gastropub, presenting blues, folk, jazz, pop, and more. Ticketed concerts run Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with shows frequently selling out and ticket prices ranging from $12 to $65. The venue also hosts the annual Women's Jazz Festival, drawing 14 women-led ensembles. A few steps away on South Vail Avenue, Big Shot Piano Lounge is an upscale restaurant and piano bar fashioned like a Chicago speakeasy, where pianists perform show tunes, classics, and contemporary songs nightly and patrons are invited to sing along. It has been open since 1999. Metropolis Performing Arts Centre also draws music events, including the village's Sounds of Summer concert series, which spills into the Metropolis Ballroom space. The Sounds of Summer series itself runs Thursday evenings from June through August in Harmony Park in downtown Arlington Heights. The concentration of music-focused venues in a walkable downtown, steps from a Metra stop, gives Arlington Heights one of the more developed live-music footprints among Chicago's northwest suburbs.
