A neighborhood in Chicago
Jefferson Park sits on Chicago's Northwest Side, a neighborhood with a strong Polish-American identity and a live-music calendar that ranges from a restored movie palace to a neighborhood whiskey bar. The Copernicus Center's fully restored 1930-style theater and modern loft-style Annex offer two spaces with acoustics suited to small and large concerts alike. The Gateway Lounge, an intimate room within the complex, is designed for cabaret, jazz, blues, and Latin music, and has become a home for salsa nights. Since 1979 the Center has also anchored the annual Taste of Polonia, Chicago's largest Polish festival and the largest Polish festival in the Americas, which spreads across four stages with over 35 bands covering rock, 80s, pop, jazz, and polka. District House on Higgins Avenue is a neighborhood bar with a focus on whiskey and bourbon that also books live music, runs karaoke, and keeps a jukebox going.
