Tae & The Neighborly, a Wisconsin based Soul-pop R&B group, found themselves playing music together in a very unconventional way. They were all neighbors, each one living alone on one floor of a five-story flat. Cake baking is a shared passion of the five member group, but in the sugar shortages early in the 2020 pandemic, they found themselves so continually knocking on each other's doors asking for a single cup of sugar that a group decision was made to all move in together and share cake-baking resources. And since everyone knows all good rhythms begin in the kitchen, it wasn’t before long that the group began to write and perform together across the nation.

Oh He Dead hails from Washington, D.C., and is quickly garnering national attention. Lead singer CJ Johnson “maneuvers her powerful voice — a combination of Stevie Nicks and Tracy Chapman” (NPR) in rhythm with the band’s “infectiously groovy” and “sublime instrumentation” (NPR) to create an “infectious and soulful sound” (Washington Post). Founded in 2015 by Johnson and Andy Valenti, the now five-piece group includes lead guitarist Alex Salser, John Daise-on-the-bass (say it out loud), and Adam Ashforth on drums. The close-knit band weaves in and out of genres ranging from soul to funk to folk to rock, all tied together by the stirring harmonies of Johnson and Valenti.

Mama Said String Band is an instant classic, since 2016 they’ve been bringing their own brand of the grassroots music you’re so used to hearing to stages everywhere. Based out of Louisville, KY, Mama Said String Band brings a refreshing reinvention to Bluegrass, Folk and Americana while focusing on vocal harmonies and contemporary instrumentation. Acclaimed jazz singer-songwriter Allegra Levy brings her joyful family program, “Songs for You and Me,” to the Stoner Theater.
