Pine Knob Music Theatre has been a fixture since it opened in the 1970s, and it remains the dominant reason people make the trip to Clarkston for live music. The outdoor amphitheater sits in Independence Township, seating 15,274 people, with a large canopy covering the pavilion and an open lawn at the rear. Ranked #1 in the world in Pollstar's 2022 Year-End Rankings, the venue draws concerts, comedy, family shows, and community events. Acts span pop, country, and rock, and current bookings also include hip-hop and R&B. The summer concert season typically runs from May through September or October. Beyond Pine Knob, the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce runs a free Concerts in the Park series, with shows held in Depot Park in the heart of historic downtown, on Friday evenings from June through mid-to-late July.
