Orion Township
A city in the Detroit area
Wildwood Amphitheater is owned by Orion Township and serves as the area's primary live-music destination. Erected in 2010 with an estimated capacity in excess of 3,000, it sits in a wooded setting on Township property and is the third-largest outdoor venue in the area behind only DTE Music Theater and Meadowbrook. The booking calendar runs summer-long across multiple nights. The season includes free Tuesday shows for the community, blues and country shows on Thursdays, and additional weekend shows on Fridays and Saturdays. The free Thursday series runs June through August and has included acts such as tribute bands for Stevie Nicks, the Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, the Beatles, the Eagles, and Elton John and Billy Joel, alongside blues, country, and rock acts. The Lake Orion High School Band also takes part in the free Thursday series. The venue combines a scenic hillside setting with an open-air stage. Orion Township's Parks and Recreation department runs the free concert series, and the venue is also available for private rental.
