Westland
The Token Lounge has been Metro Detroit's premier concert club since 1971 and is the clear anchor of Westland's live-music identity. The intimate Joy Road room holds national and local acts, with a capacity of 400 with seating and 750 without. The venue leans toward blues, rock, and metal, and its calendar regularly features tribute acts alongside original touring artists. A wall of fame documents many of the notable musicians who have played there over the decades. On the neighborhood-bar end, Crystal Bar & Grill on N. Middlebelt Road programs rock, country, and pop live music in a smaller, no-frills setting. Blues night runs on Thursdays, with live music of varied styles on Fridays and Saturdays, and no cover charge is the norm. Beyond the bars, Blues, Brews and Barbecue is the city's signature summer event, built around blues music and held annually in Western Wayne County.
