Fairgrounds
The Indiana State Fairgrounds hosts outdoor festivals, live music, and seasonal events throughout the year. The Fairgrounds neighborhood's live-music identity is built almost entirely around this campus, which puts four distinct stages under one roof district. Corteva Coliseum, a 6,500-seat indoor arena at 1202 E. 38th St., was originally built in 1939 as the Livestock Pavilion. It has hosted thousands of events, including the only Indiana performance of the Beatles in 1964. A $53 million renovation in 2012 modernized the facility. The Coliseum now draws over 1 million guests annually across more than 150 events, ranging from professional sports to live music and family shows. The Elements Financial Blue Ribbon Pavilion was originally built in 1924 to display sheep during the State Fair, then renovated in 1999 into a 70,575-square-foot flexible space. The Hoosier Lottery Grandstand and Hoosier Lottery Free Stage serve as the fairgrounds' primary outdoor concert platforms, with the Free Stage offering no-admission performances during the annual State Fair. Parking in the Fairgrounds area is plentiful most of the year, but expect a hunt during the State Fair and other large events.
