Bonner Springs

Bonner Springs sits on the western edge of the Kansas City metro, and its live-music identity is built almost entirely around one place: Azura Amphitheater. Originally opened in 1984 as the Sandstone Center for the Performing Arts, the open-air amphitheater has gone through several naming-rights changes over the decades. It holds up to 18,000 people, with over 3,000 reserved seats and multiple open-air suites. The booking ranges across country, hip-hop, rock, pop, and electronic music. Over its history, the venue has hosted acts including Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Buffett, Mumford and Sons, Dave Matthews Band, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Country Stampede, an annual outdoor country music and camping festival, now calls Azura Amphitheater home as well. Beyond this one large-scale venue, Bonner Springs has no notable small-club or bar music scene of its own.
