Audubon
A neighborhood in Louisville
Audubon is a quiet, residential Louisville neighborhood without bars or music clubs of its own, but it sits directly beside one of the city's largest outdoor concert sites. Highland Festival Grounds at Kentucky Expo Center hosts concerts, theatrical productions, touring shows, and special performances on its open grounds at 1016 Phillips Lane. The venue is best known as the home of two annual multi-day festivals: Bourbon & Beyond, which pairs exceptional music with a selection of bourbons, beers, and wines, drawing headliners such as Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons, Chris Stapleton, and Dave Matthews Band; and Louder Than Life, billed as America's largest rock and metal festival, which has featured artists such as Deftones, Bring Me the Horizon, and Evanescence. Outside of festival season, events at the grounds range from live music and stage productions to special appearances and limited-run performances. For Audubon residents, the trade-off is clear: no neighborhood bar with a local band on a Tuesday, but two of Louisville's biggest concert weekends happen practically next door.
