Louisville Memorial Auditorium, at 970 South Fourth Street, is a Greek Revival concert hall dedicated in 1929 as a World War I memorial. A 1954 renovation lowered the ceiling and closed the side balconies, reducing capacity to 1,742 seats to improve acoustics. The hall is home to the world's largest Pilcher organ, a four-manual instrument with 5,288 pipes that has been in operation since the building opened. It hosts concerts, stage plays, dance competitions, and a range of community events. Established in 1962, the Magnolia Bar, known as Mag Bar, has been an Old Louisville fixture for generations. The bar is known for hosting punk and metal shows. Metal Monday is a weekly free metal series that draws local and touring bands. Indie rock and garage rock acts also appear regularly on the bill. The neighborhood's third music venue, Margaret Comstock Concert Hall, is located here as well, though specific programming details were not available from current sources.
