Greenbush

Greenbush is one of Madison's older neighborhoods, historically home to a mix of Italian, Jewish, and African American residents, bounded by Regent Street, Park Street, and West Washington Avenue. Its live-music offerings today are small-room and intimate in character. Indie Coffee, at 1225 Regent Street, has drawn national acts since opening in 2004, with a seated capacity of around 30. It books acoustic, Americana, folk, and singer-songwriter acts, all ages. The venue also hosts film screenings and book readings alongside live music. Leopold's Books Bar Caffè, at 1301 Regent Street, is a bar, bookstore, and café that doubles as a live-music venue, opened in 2021 by Sam Brown. Leopold's hosts the Madison Django Jazz Jam every Tuesday, featuring live acoustic gypsy jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt. Weekly events also include free live music beyond the jazz jam, wine tastings, and book events. Lucky's 1313 Brew Pub and The Mason Lounge round out the neighborhood's music spots, though specific programming details for those two venues weren't available at time of publication.
