La Vista
The Astro anchors La Vista's live-music identity: a complex at 8302 City Centre Drive containing an indoor theater and an outdoor amphitheater. It opened in September 2023, with Casey Donahew as its inaugural act. The theater holds 2,400 and the amphitheater 5,500. It was purpose-built to fill a mid-size gap, giving acts that couldn't fill a venue like CHI Health Center a place to play in the metro. Current bookings lean rock, country, and dance/electronic. Island Bar & Grill, a locally owned tiki-themed bar at 7826 S 123rd Plaza, puts live music on every Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The rest of the week runs music bingo on Wednesdays, karaoke on Thursdays and Fridays. Kros Strain Brewing, founded in 2017 and known for its Fairy Nectar IPA, operates a 17,000-square-foot brewery and taproom that is listed among La Vista bars with live music and hosts occasional live acts alongside its rotating tap list. The city itself adds a free outdoor concert series, putting local acts on stage on the fourth Friday of each summer month.
