Falcon Heights

Falcon Heights is a small city of roughly 5,500 people, and two-thirds of its total land area is public land, which means its live-music story begins and ends with one address: the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. The Grandstand itself was built in 1885 and sits at the heart of the fairgrounds. From pop to country to rock and everything in between, it hosts 11 nights of the nation's top touring talent during the fair's late-August-through-Labor-Day run. Each night, the Grandstand hosts an event, typically a concert, which is followed by a fireworks display. These events are ticketed separately from the fair's admission fee. Previous years have featured major national acts such as Duran Duran, Usher, and The Beach Boys, and the concert series also includes the final edition of the yearly Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest. The 2026 lineup spans the genre map: Bonnie Raitt, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Rod Stewart, TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are among the headliners. Beyond the Grandstand's ticketed shows, 100-plus acts perform across 900 shows during the fair's duration. Outside of fair season, Falcon Heights has no standing live-music venues.
