A neighborhood in Minneapolis

Prospect Park is a residential neighborhood on Minneapolis's southeast edge, bordered by the University of Minnesota and the Mississippi River. Its live-music footprint is modest but anchored by one well-known draw: Surly Brewing Festival Field. Festival Field opened in 2016, turning the brewery's green lawn into a 5,000-capacity concert venue. Surly has co-hosted concerts with First Avenue Productions since that year. The open-air setup offers good sightlines and a laid-back energy, and fans can usually expect around 10 shows per season. Past performers have included Ween, Cake, Billy Strings, and Tame Impala, and for summer 2026, Alabama Shakes and Big Thief are both confirmed. The venue regularly books indie, roots, and alternative acts, alongside brewery events like beer festivals. Beyond Festival Field, the neighborhood also hosts smaller live-music events at Pratt Performance Circle and Luxton Park. Prospect Park is not a late-night bar-band destination, but in summer, Festival Field makes it one of the more notable outdoor concert spots in the metro.
