Midtown Atlanta is known as the Heart of the Arts, and its live-music venues back that up across a wide range of scales and styles. Center Stage Theater, built in 1966, anchors the neighborhood's mid-size concert life. The complex holds three rooms: the 1,050-capacity Center Stage Theater, known for its acoustics; The Loft, an industrial 650-capacity space; and Vinyl, a 300-capacity room. Elton John recorded a live-studio album on the Center Stage floor, and Jay-Z kicked off a tour there with a 7am show. The Loft comes with four full-service bars and a view of the Midtown skyline. Atlanta Symphony Hall draws world-renowned musicians and entertainers, several of whom perform alongside the GRAMMY award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Bookings span pop, rock, country, R&B, jazz, and comedy. The Fox Theatre handles Broadway musicals and major touring acts, and is considered a national live-music landmark. It is also known for performing arts and classic film screenings.
