Poncey-Highland
The Bakery Atlanta operates out of The Supermarket, a multi-use arts and creative event space on North Highland Avenue in Poncey-Highland, making it the neighborhood's dedicated live-music anchor. The 12,500 sq ft space is run by a nonprofit collective that aims to support emerging, DIY, and underground arts as Atlanta grows. Working from a DIY ethos, The Bakery encourages creativity across mediums by providing physical space, producing public programming, and activating unconventional spaces. Over time, volunteers transformed the building into a hub for live music, dance, theater, drag shows, and educational programs. Past programming has included younger indie rock, hip-hop, electronic, hardcore, and post-punk acts. In 2024 alone, The Bakery hosted and produced 130 events and distributed $19,000 to artists. For Poncey-Highland, it represents a community-driven, all-ages alternative to the area's bars and restaurants.
