Towanda
Towanda is a small community just off Interstate 55 near Bloomington-Normal, and its live-music footprint comes down almost entirely to one address: Duncan Manor. The 1866 Italianate farmhouse sits on old Route 66 near Towanda and was transformed from a once vacant and deteriorated brick house into a habitable space by owners David and Randi Howell, who created a 501(c)3 foundation to keep the historically significant site open and accessible to the public. Today Duncan Manor is a destination for tours, concerts, weddings, and other community events. On the music side, acts including Chicago Farmer, Ed Anderson, and Stone & Snow have performed there. The Manor also hosted a sold-out music festival called The Blues Bender, which showcased local talent. More regularly, Summer Socials bring the community together through local makers, live music, food, and shared experiences on the property's grounds. The setting, history, and Route 66 location give Duncan Manor a character unlike a typical bar stage.
