Sidecar Supper Club & Beer Garden occupies one of the oldest buildings off Batavia's woonerf on River Street, and it anchors the suburb's live-music calendar more than any other spot. Live shows run every Friday and Saturday, songwriters on Tuesday, and bluegrass every Sunday. Three seasons out of the year, its two outdoor patios host local and touring bands with an emphasis on Americana, blues, roots, jazz, and bluegrass. Friday and Saturday beer-garden shows run 8–11pm with a $5 cover; indoors from October through April, there's no cover. The Tuesday Musician Spotlight Series features independent acoustic performers during dinner hours, free and family-friendly, with the woonerf closed to traffic for the evening. Sturdy Shelter Brewing opened in 2022 at 10 S. Shumway Ave in a building with deep community roots: it dates to the mid-1800s, when it was known as the Batavia Music Hall, and later served as a roller rink, opera house, and movie theater. The taproom sits on the Fox River and mixes live musicians with trivia nights and board games.
