Glencoe
A suburb in the Chicago area
Glencoe is a small village of about 8,700 people, roughly 20 miles north of Chicago. Its live-music identity is anchored almost entirely by one destination: the Chicago Botanic Garden, a 385-acre living plant museum situated on nine islands and featuring 26 display gardens. The Garden runs Evening Music on Mondays and Wednesdays through August, drawing crowds to the Esplanade for jazz, world music, tribute bands, and more. This season the Garden has added Tribute Nights, featuring talented tribute bands bringing legendary artists to life on select evenings. Concerts are free with Garden admission and held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with many reaching a capacity of around 1,000 guests. Picnicking is welcome on the Esplanade during shows, and dining locations offer light bites and refreshments to bring to the lawn. The Garden also offers morning performances where visitors listen to relaxing live music overlooking the Garden's lakes and Evening Island. Outside the Garden, Glencoe's small downtown has no dedicated live-music venues.
