Highland Park

Ravinia is the longest-running and most programmatically diverse outdoor music festival in North America, welcoming around 400,000 guests to over 100 events each year. That alone makes Highland Park a destination on Chicago's North Shore live-music map, but the suburb's smaller venues carry their own weight. Madame ZuZu's, co-founded in 2012 by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, has grown from a plant-based teahouse into a live music venue and art space with a vinyl record shop known for limited-edition releases. The room hosts vinyl release parties, open mic nights, and art exhibitions, and has featured performances by artists including Billy Corgan, Mike Garson, and Perry Farrell. Local artists play every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., covering a mix of genres. Norton's Restaurant has been a fixture since 1999, offering traditional American fare and frequent live evening entertainment. Live music runs almost every Friday or Saturday. Steep Ravine Brewing Company and Yana's Speakeasy also appear regularly on local live-music listings, rounding out a scene that ranges from a world-class amphitheater to intimate neighborhood spots.
