Clifton

Clifton's proximity to the University of Cincinnati gives it a college-town atmosphere that shapes its music offerings, which range from a historic rock room to a conservatory stage. The Ludlow Garage began as an automobile shop and has served as a music venue for decades, drawing artists including The Allman Brothers Band, Santana, Iggy Pop, B.B. King, Alice Cooper, and Neil Young. Today it combines a gastropub atmosphere with live bookings, with national and regional acts specializing in roots, rock, and R&B taking the stage. Patricia Corbett Theater, opened in 1971 and fully renovated in 2018, is a 378-seat modified thrust theater on the UC campus used for ballet, chamber and solo recitals, opera, and musical theatre. Programming is presented by UC's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), making it the neighborhood's destination for formal and student performance. Fries Cafe replaced a Kroger store in 1930 and has been a neighborhood bar near UC ever since. Off its second floor, a patio holds a stage for live music and an outdoor bar area. Guests can catch live music performances or join karaoke nights and mini beer fests. Sitwell's Coffeehouse Act II rounds out the lineup as a coffeehouse-style venue.
