University District
The University District sits just north of Ohio State University, and its live-music options span from late-night coffee shops to a campus auditorium seating thousands. Kafe Kerouac is a laid-back coffee shop on North High Street that hosts hip-hop performances, improv shows, poetry slams, and book readings, alongside open-mic nights. It also sells books and records. Mershon Auditorium, built in 1957 and operated by the Wexner Center for the Arts since 1989, seats over 2,590 and hosts Wexner Center performances, Ohio State activities, and national touring concerts booked by Columbus Arena Sports & Entertainment. It is known for precise acoustics and excellent sightlines. The Wexner Center itself also presents performing arts programming on campus. Ohio Stadium, with a capacity topping 102,000, hosts Buckeye football and has seen major concert events as well. Weigel Hall, Oldfield's on North Fourth, The Spacebar, and Understory are also part of the neighborhood's live-music mix, though specific booking details for those venues were not available from search results.
