Short North

The Short North Arts District, Columbus's historic gallery corridor along N. High Street, carries live music well beyond its monthly Gallery Hop, with local bands playing weekly shows in businesses and busking on the sidewalk during that event. The neighborhood's range runs from refined jazz rooms to a working meadery stage. ICON Jazz Lounge (1135 N. High St.) focuses squarely on jazz, drawing bands from across Ohio and the Midwest in a lounge-style setting. It also books national artists and pairs the music with food, drink specials, and work from local Short North visual artists. Brothers Drake Meadery, founded in 2007, pairs its locally sourced honey-based mead with a live-music program. Wednesday nights are a recurring jazz night, with other musical events throughout the week. The space includes a production facility, gallery space that rotates monthly, and a stage used nearly every night. Good Night John Boy (906 N. High St.) hosts a country bar, Welcome To The Farm, on its ground floor, a concept from artist Chase Rice with roots in Cleveland and Florida.
