Ferndale
The Loving Touch is a live music venue in Ferndale that books both national and local acts. The Magic Bag, on Woodward Avenue, bills itself as Detroit's premier nightlife, concert, and comedy venue and draws a consistent calendar of touring performers. New Way Bar is Ferndale's oldest bar, running open-mic comedy on Mondays, an open-mic music night on Wednesdays, and live bands on weekends. Its open mic is considered an institution in the local music scene, open to singers, songwriters, and all kinds of performers. On the other end of the spectrum, Boogie Fever Cafe and Disco is a retro-themed dance club in downtown Ferndale with a focus on 70s and 80s music and a "Saturday Night Fever" lighted dance floor. The Orchid Theatre hosts themed dance-party nights such as emo and dad-rock events. Woodward Avenue runs through the heart of Ferndale's after-dark activity, with most of these venues clustered along or near it.
