Palmer Park

A neighborhood in Detroit

Palmer Park sits about eight miles north of downtown Detroit, a residential neighborhood whose live-music options are limited but historically rooted. The Palmer Park Bandshell, added in 2025, hosts free concert series in the park itself. The neighborhood's main music-and-nightlife anchor is Menjo's Complex on W. McNichols Road. Menjo's is a historic LGBTQ+ bar and entertainment complex with a large dance floor, karaoke, and live performances, and the complex has grown to include multiple bars, a dance club, and various entertainment spaces. It has been voted Best Alternative Bar by Metro Times Magazine and CBS Detroit. The Olympus Theater at 950 W. McNichols blends club energy with a stage, hosting DJ sets, drag shows, and live music. The Eagle, an after-hours component, rounds out the weekend with a rotating cast of DJs. Madonna made early visits to Menjo's before her career took off, making it one of Detroit's more storied LGBTQ+ rooms.
