Islandview takes its name from its view of Belle Isle on Detroit's lower east side, a residential neighborhood about 3 miles east of downtown Detroit. Its live-music footprint is modest, anchored by one notable venue. Spot Lite, at 2905 Beaufait St., is a combination bar, cafe, record store, art gallery, and nightclub in the neighborhood. Established by Roula David and Jesse Cory, the space operates as a gallery, bar, coworking area, and record store by day. Housed in a former lumberyard, it functions as a dance club by night, with programming that emphasizes Black music, particularly house and techno, while also presenting jazz, funk, soul, and R&B. It is known for forward-thinking programming that spotlights DJs, live electronic acts, jazz ensembles, and curated art shows. It has a capacity of about 400.
