University Place
University Place, anchored by Nebraska Wesleyan University, is Lincoln's only designated creative district. The neighborhood runs a First Friday event on the first Friday of every month, 5–8 PM, folding live music into gallery openings and local business promotions. Lux Center for the Arts is the only organization of its kind in Lincoln, focusing on art education, exhibitions, an artist-in-residency program, and community outreach. Music is part of its public programming: the center hosts community festival days in Uni Place that bring together art activities, food trucks, and live music. Its Mayfest outdoor fundraiser also features live music alongside art activities for all ages. Bar48 is a cocktail bar in a warm, Art Deco-inspired setting. The venue has hosted acts such as the 52nd Street Jazz Band. Live music in University Place leans toward the arts-community end of the spectrum rather than high-volume rock, fitting a neighborhood where festivals and gallery nights set the tone.
