Havelock
Havelock is a historic district in Lincoln, lined with locally owned businesses, and often described as a small "town within a city." Its live-music presence runs through one address: Bob's Tavern at 6212 Havelock Ave. The building dates to 1912, originally a pool hall, and was converted into a bar in the 1940s. Local acts play every Friday and Saturday night with no cover charge, and the tavern runs an open mic on Wednesdays from 8 p.m. to midnight. Local blues musician Levi Williams got his start at those open mics as a teenager. Other acts to have played the room include Last Minute Band, Hell Toupee, The Victims, and Them Other Dudes. The room is a long bar with a pool table, a shuffleboard table, and space for bands in the back. It is a no-frills neighborhood bar that gives local musicians a regular, low-stakes place to play in front of a familiar crowd.
