Darbo-Worthington

A neighborhood in Madison

Darbo-Worthington sits on Madison's near-east side, between Highway 30, Starkweather Creek, and St. Paul and Milwaukee Streets. Its sole dedicated live-music spot is the Minocqua Brewing Company Madison Tap Room, located at 2927 East Washington Avenue. The tap room bills itself as a hub for the arts, with an event calendar that includes live music, remote radio broadcasts, poetry readings, stand-up comedy, and regularly scheduled intellectual talks. Live music goes out from the taproom every Wednesday. Willie Jones of Madison bluegrass band Sortin' The Mail hosts a monthly bluegrass jam on site. The venue also books acoustic acts and Americana groups, including performers who draw from bluegrass, blues, folk, and country. The owner built a stage as part of a "Beer Church" salon series aimed at giving classical musicians an intimate space to perform. Admission to most shows is free.
