A neighborhood in Madison
Carpenter-Ridgeway is a quiet, residential neighborhood on Madison's east side. Its one dedicated music venue, Crucible, punches well above the neighborhood's low-key profile. Crucible is a mid-size alternative music and performing arts venue at 3116 Commercial Ave, with a focus on electronic and industrial dance. Programming covers goth, industrial, and electronic dance nights, live music, burlesque, drag, cosplay, and art shows. The venue books a wide range of genres, with past acts including Stoneburner, Queen of Dreams, Satan, Siren, and Crypt Sermon. Its calendar also extends to multi-day metal festivals, such as Blades of Steel Metalfest, which brings roughly 20 bands over three days. The room features an elevated stage, roomy dance floor, and strong sightlines from nearly anywhere. Recurring themed nights have included Goth AF, Queer, Vinyl & Base, and Leather + Lace. Most shows run Wednesday through Sunday nights.
