FREE Jazz Jam at North Street Cabaret
Free jam session with live music
Eken Park is a small neighborhood of single-family homes and apartment buildings on Madison's near east side. Its live-music footprint is compact but focused, anchored by two venues sitting directly across North Street from each other. North Street Cabaret is dedicated to roots music, covering jazz, Latin jazz, blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, gospel, traditional country, folk, zydeco, and Tejano. The room occupies the former Grieg Club building and holds 99 people. Its calendar runs most nights of the week. Across the street, the Tip Top Tavern is a true corner tavern sitting incongruously in a residential neighborhood. Live music and performances are part of its regular programming alongside its well-regarded food. Both venues share the same music booker. Every August, the neighborhood's annual festival adds an outdoor live-music element, with local bands performing alongside food vendors and community events.
