Deerfield
A suburb in the Madison area
Deerfield is a small village on US Highways 12 and 18, just east of Madison, and its live-music scene runs almost entirely through one place: Schuster's Playtime Farm. The farm presents live music as part of its "Blooms on the Farm" series, held Fridays through Sundays in August, set among zinnia and sunflower fields. Local artists perform while guests walk the flower fields and enjoy beverages. Sets run from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Past performers have included family-friendly singer-songwriter Ken Lonnquist and classic-rock cover act Speakeasy. Speakeasy plays 1960s and 70s pop, rock, country rock, and blues, covering artists like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Allman Brothers. The farm is an agritourism destination first, and the music reflects that: outdoor, all-ages, and seasonal. Anyone looking for year-round live music will need to head into Madison, but Schuster's offers a genuinely distinctive summer setting for an evening show.
