West Side

Madison's West Side keeps its live music largely outdoors and free. Rennebohm Park on N. Eau Claire Ave is the summer home of the Capitol City Band, whose 58th season runs Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. through August 20. Founded in 1969, the Capitol City Band is a Madison institution that plays free concerts in the park June through August. The Glen Golf Park carries its own music series, "Live at The Glen," presented by the Madison Parks Foundation on the park's patio. The series is described as a year-round celebration of art, culture, and community at the 42-acre golf park. Recent bookings have ranged from the Tony Castañeda Latin Jazz Band, Wisconsin's premier Latin jazz act for over 20 years and a 14-time Isthmus Madison Favorite Jazz Band winner, to Vets on Frets, an acoustic guitar group of military veterans playing folk, country, and classic oldies. Golf remains in play during the events. Skip's After Market, connected to Brennan's Market at 8210 Watts Road, is a newer addition to the neighborhood. It features a full-service bar, outdoor patio, fire pits, and live music. Outdoor music and theme nights are part of its regular programming.
